Competency Based Interview Training – Thursday 8th January 2015

Constructive Challenge – Tuesday 20th January 2015
10:00am – 4:00pm, Safety Net offices, Portslade. Cost – £50
This course is for anyone who has challenging conversations with families in their work – whatever this is in relation to. It is an opportunity to take time out to reflect on the nature of these conversations and how we approach them. It will be a reflective, practical and experiential course where we consider both the dynamics present in these conversations, as well giving you some tools and strategies to help these conversations to be more effective.
Helping Teenagers to Keep Themselves Safe – Thursday 22nd January 2015
10:00am – 4:00pm, Safety Net offices, Portslade. Cost £50
This course uses the Protective Behaviours life skills, assertiveness and safety awareness programme and looks in more detail at risk taking behaviour in teenagers as a part of their transition to adulthood. The programme looks at ways of understanding our personal response to risk and safety, helps develop tools and resources to keep ourselves safe, and how Protective Behaviours can be used to increase young people’s understanding of personal safety and emotional literacy.
Sexting Workshop – Tuesday 3rd February 2015
9:30am – 12:30pm, Safety Net offices, Portslade. Cost £25
This half day workshop aims to explore issues associated with the fairly modern phenomenon of ‘sexting’ (sending and sharing explicit sexual content via digital and social media) and the impact this has on young people’s attitudes, knowledge and safety.You will gain a greater awareness of the motivations behind sexting, the legal context and ways to educate and support young people about the associated issues.
Introduction to Mindfulness – Thursday 5th February 2015
9:30am – 12:30pm, Safety Net offices, Portslade. Cost £25
Mindfulness is a relaxed state of awareness that observes both our inner world of thoughts, feelings and sensations, and the outer world of constantly changing phenomena without trying to control anything. It is widely recognised as a powerful tool that can help us enhance appreciation of life and manage stress, this introduction can serve as starting point for future learning and practice.
