Pitch to Brighton Soup in June 18

Last Friday, Isha, Boudicca and Tom from Audio Active won the public vote and £448 of ticket money and donations for their “Women in Music Tech” project. A surprise secret donation on the night gave all 4 projects a separate £250 donation. So B&H Speak Out’s Thumbs Up, Free University Brighton’s Projector and Fabrica’s Textile Flow also came away with some funding as well as other support and assistance gained on the night.

Comic Relief Core Funding is back!

Comic Relief Core Strength for Local Communities – applications via Sussex Community Foundation. Next Deadline Friday 4th May 2018, 5pm

This fund supports charitable organisations with annual incomes of up to £100,000 addressing disadvantage, to cover core costs (i.e. expenditure not connected to delivering projects but focusing on investing in the organisation as a whole, such as basic running costs).  Grants available of up to £10,000.  This fund has its own criteria and online application form. Applicants may apply separately to both this fund and Sussex Community Foundations’ general awards Summer Round, provided that any application for the latter is to support project activity costs (i.e. not for core costs). Previous applicants may also apply though you are recommended to contacting the Grants Team to discuss your previous application before making a further submission.

2018 school summer holiday funding for educational or charitable projects

The Goodall Foundation (tGF) is offering to fully fund educational or charitable projects taking place on the Barge during the 2018 school summer holidays.

Since the Barge relaunched as a non-profit community and youth hub in the summer of 2017, over 20 organisations and community groups have run activities aboard, bringing the space to life. Whether a regular yoga class or a team away day, the Barge has demonstrated its appeal and value to the Marina and the city more broadly. The Barge is an asset owned by the Marina who hope that it will continue to grow into a hub of activity, enabling local community and youth groups and other socially-oriented organisations to broaden their offer to staff and beneficiaries alike.

“Last Summer’s activities were a great success. We saw over 600 participants take part in a variety of activities and more importantly we begun to see the endless potential the creative space presents” says Sunetta Kiarie, Programmes Manager at tGF. The Foundation are helping with the day to day management of the space and hope to see more young people, families and professionals engage with the Barge this Summer.

The residency is open to charities and community organisations in Brighton and Hove and will run from July 25th until September 3rd.

Applicants will have the option to apply for a three-week residency or the full six-weeks of the holidays. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Design a programme of activity that is built on the teams, projects and infrastructure you have as part of your organisation or;
  2. Curate a programme of events, delivered by your team and/or other external organisations with whom you have partnerships.

Both of these options will be fully funded. tGF anticipate up to £5,000 for three weeks or £10,000 for all six weeks. The deadline for both applications is Friday 16th March 2018 at 5.00pm. Find more information and the full application pack at http://medium.com/@theGoodallFdn

Pitch at Brighton Soup – deadline 20th February

The next Brighton Soup community funding event is on Friday 16th March @ All Saints Church, Hove. If you’re interested looking for some funding, community support and a chance to let people know what you’re doing, then here’s a great opportunity.

Standing up to ask a room full of people to help you with your project can be scary, but the guys at Brighton Soup will help you. They give you pitch training, support you throughout the process and ultimately the room is full of very lovely people wanting to help.

The B Right On LGBT Community Festival celebrates LGBT History Month, is organised by the Volunteers of the Brighton & Hove LGBT Community Safety Forum and takes place at the Phil Starr Pavilion – a multi functional, fully accessible, heated performance, conference and community space with a licensed bar which is located on Victoria Gardens, Brighton, BN1 1WN.

East Brighton Trust: deadline this Friday

Small grants of up to £500 are available to groups in Moulsecoomb, Bates Estate, Saunders Park, Manor Farm, Whitehawk, Craven Vale, Bristol Estate and Higher Bevendean.

The deadline for the current round is 5pm, Friday 12th January.
