Have you got a community based project that needs funding?

This event is for community groups and organisations in Brighton & Hove who are interested in crowdfunding.

Come along with your ideas for the chance to work through your project plans and find out more about how Crowdfunding could work for you.

You’ll also hear about the Projects that Matter Campaign that we’re running with the CriSeren Foundation and how you could be one of the 5 local causes to receive £1,000 towards your first crowdfunding ask.

The workshop will be run by Crowdfunder.co.uk the #1 community crowdfunding platform, having raised over £60m for business, charity and social enterprise projects across the UK.

Brighton Soup’s next funding event 22nd March

It’s been a while, but Brighton Soup are getting ready for our spring soup community funding event.

Last time out Silvina de Vita pitched and won £415 in donations for her Arts & Crafts Project. Based at the Bevy, the project is helping to bring people together over creative activities.

This time Brighton Soup will be taking place at St Richard’s Community Hall, Hangleton on Friday 22nd March 2019.

If you need a little funding and support for your project, or have an idea to get one started, then apply at brightonsoup.org.uk/projects. You don’t have to be a charity, just someone with an idea that to help their community in a charitable way. #

Looking for grants?

Community Works are offering groups a chance to book an appointment for a search of the national Grantfinder database.

You should have a clear idea of your funding requirements, be actively looking for funding and be planning to make an applications shortly.

Slots available between 10-2pm on Friday 15 February and Friday 22 March at the Community Works office in Community Base.

Good Food Grants – deadline March 14th 2019

Thanks to a generous bequest from Neil Smith, Brighton & Hove Food Partnership is again offering Good Food Grants to local community food projects.

Groups can apply for grants of between £200 and £850 for projects working to improve the health, skills and confidence of local residents through healthy eating, increased cookery skills and food growing. They are looking for projects that bring people together, celebrate food and support the city’s most vulnerable residents.

This year’s scheme is focused on projects which benefit adults with mental health issues and people experiencing poverty. Please check the guidelines before applying.

Grants for tenants of Southern Housing Group

If you live in a Southern Housing Group property, you can apply for small grants to organise activities and outings for people in your community, or work together with your neighbours to improve your gardens. Nationwide Fund for Housing and Homelessness

Charities, community land trusts and housing co-operatives can apply for grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 to make a change in the local area.

Nationwide are looking for local housing projects that will strengthen the local community by supporting the most vulnerable, finding new approaches to increasing the supply of housing or by reinventing renting for both tenants and landlords.

The funded projects will also get community and volunteering support.

The programme will support:

  • Core costs
  • Staff costs
  • Development and capacity building costs
  • Volunteer costs
  • Activity costs
  • Small-scale capital costs
  • Building works and refurbishment costs will be considered, where they are essential to the successful delivery of the project.

The deadline for applications is Friday 7th December 2018.

Brighton Energy Coop Funding – deadline 30th November

Brighton Energy Coop’s Community Fund is now open for applications

This year applications for grants  – up to £3,500 – are open for any organisation in the BN postcode area until 30th November 2018. They intend to announce the winner before Christmas, and for projects to be up and running by March 2019.

The aim of the fund is to support local generation of renewable electricity or implement energy efficiency measures.

Funding deadline extended for Brighton & Hove Council grants

The deadline has been extended for the final round of Brighton & Hove Council’s Communities Fund grant programme for 2018-19. The new deadline is Wednesday 31st October.

Groups can apply to either:

The Engagement Fund – for amounts up to £2,000, or

The Resilience Fund – for amounts up to £10,000

Funding needs to be spent by 31st March 2019, so this is for projects planned to take place at the start of next year.

New fund for groups supporting young people in Brighton & Hove

Sussex Community Foundation will be offering grants from the new Brighton & Hove Legacy Fund in their next funding round (deadline 11th January).

This fund is for projects which support the personal and educational development of children and young people across Brighton & Hove.

You can apply for up to £5,000, via the usual Sussex Community Foundation application process.

 

A chance to meet one to one with the Council’s dedicated funding search officer

Brighton & Hove Community Works are offering organisations a free funding search in partnership with the Communities, Equality & Third Sector Team at Brighton and Hove City Council. This service is your chance to meet one to one with the Council’s dedicated funding search officer, who will help you in your search for sources of funding using the national database Grantfinder.

You will talk through and select your organisation or project requirements, which will generate a list of potential funding sources. The results are prepared in a report that is emailed directly to your organisation. To achieve the most beneficial results from the search, a clear idea of your funding requirements should be identified before attending.

Appointments take approximately one hour and are available on the following dates between 10am and 2pm:

  • Friday 27 April
  • Thursday 17 May
  • Friday 29 June
  • Tuesday 17 July
