Aims of Fund

To support projects that help everyone to take part in physical activity whether this is formal sport or less formal activities. Specifically, this fund aims to:

  • Get inactive people to become more active
  • Develop lasting sporting habits
  • Create more positive attitudes among young people

Who can apply

Any constituted not-for-profit organisation, including:

  • Not-for-profit voluntary or community clubs or associations
  • Registered charities
  • Not for profit companies, community interest companies, or other social enterprises
  • Schools
  • Statutory bodies

How much and what can you apply for

You can apply for £300 to £10,000 for projects that help people to lead more active lifestyles.

Their priority is to fund activities which reach people and families who have not had the opportunities to be active that others have. They are particularly interested in projects that involve:

  • People on lower incomes
  • Supporting inactive people to become more active
  • Women
  • Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities

Your application can include the costs of running a project such as venue hire, transport, volunteer expenses, sessional workers, training and coach development. They will fund new and additional equipment and kit, but not if it is to replace existing equipment or if your team has previously had a kit. Your application cannot include your organisation’s general running costs, such as existing long-term staff costs.

There is additional guidance for projects involving children between the ages of 5 and 13 on the main web page, and for all football projects.
