Brighton & Hove City Council Communities Fund: Engagement Fund

Grants available for: Community and voluntary groups in Brighton & Hove with annual income under £20,000 (current round open to BME groups only)
Size of grants given: Up to £2,000

Aims of Fund

Applications are open to groups that aim to improve wellbeing, build cohesion or promote fairness.

Who can apply

Not-for-profit organisations based in Brighton & Hove, with an annual income of under £20,000. The Engagement Fund supports groups to engage and empower local people, communities or neighbourhoods in the city.

The current round is open only for projects that are BME led and/or have a predominantly BME membership.

If your group is already working with local communitites, or you are a larger organisation with an annual income of up to £100,000, you can apply to the Council’s Resilience Fund instead.

How much and what can you apply for

Up to £2,000 for the costs of running activities (project costs) or the general costs of keeping your organisation going (core costs).

Your activities must contribute to at least one of the following outcomes:

  • improving wellbeing
  • building cohesion
  • promoting fairness

How to apply

There will be an online webinar on Monday 8th November at 5.30pm to 6.30pm for anyone interested in applying. If  you would like to attend please email communitiesteam@brighton-hove.gov.uk to ask for the link to the online event.

Applications must be made via the council’s Community Fund online portal. You can preview the questions in the application form on the Council’s website.

Deadlines for application

Deadline for the BME Engagement fund: 10/12/21. Decisions expected by end of January 2022. Grant can cover activities between February and May 2022.

There are three general funding rounds a year, and funds must be spent by the end of the financial year in which they are granted.

Deadlines are usually in May, July and October.
